Let's talk Grammy's. The 58th annual Grammy awards premiered last night. There were lots of big winners at the Grammy's. Kendrick Lamar won 5 Grammy's with arguably the best performance of the night. Absolutely Amazing! His performance will certainly be added to the list of trending topics along side Beyonce's formation video. Taylor Swift won 3 Grammys including best album! All with a congratulatory hug to Kendrick, because she probably thought he should have made that trophy number 6 on his list of wins. I like Taylor Swift but C'mon son, Kendrick should have won Album of the year. But I guess since he won best Rap Album, that justified the win according to the academy. However, based on the performances last night, I am inclined to listen to Chris Stapleton's album just to make sure I am not being biased. He helped kill the BB King tribute.
Meghan Trainor won Best New Artist, I don't know why. It should have been Tori Kelly. END. OF. STORY. You disagree? Go on YouTube or listen to her album and tell me why she shouldn't have. I mean, you can even go back to her YouTube covers alone. Smh, yeah I'm still salty about that...SO WHAT! LOL! The Weekend won Best Urban Contemporary....Yay, but not really. I mean, he's aight....but I'm just not that impressed by him. So that's all I have to say on that....meh. Justin Beiber won his first ever Grammy for Best Dance recording. Along with his Skrillex performance, I felt the need for that win. If you didn't know, now you know.....Skrillex will make you move. Alabama Shakes winning best Rock performance AND Best Alternative album added a kick diversity, with the Sista as the lead vocalist....DO THAT GURL! Who didn't think that "Uptown Funk" wasn't going to win something? I mean seriously, that song was the "Happy" of 2015. Kudos to Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson on that collaboration.Ed Sheeran and Amy Wadge were well deserving of the song of the year award for "thinking out loud", awesome song. I am singing it right now as I write this....yup I am.
The diversity was on Fleek last night with the performances. The Lionel Ritchie Tribute was Nice, I think Adele should have sung "Hello"....that would have be nice and cliché. Lol! The Hamilton performance was SUPERB! Now I know why this Broadway show is in such high demand and sold out well into the fall of 2016. Adele...love you to pieces but what happened? This was your come back Grammy performance and it was underwhelming. She did tweet that the piano microphones fell onto the strings, but the show had to go on. Lady GaGa literally transformed into David Bowie. She's just an all around great performer, but I wasn't that hype on her. I was still stuck on the fact that she looked totally different from the Super Bowl. LOL! Rihanna and the Weekends performances were unfortunately cancelled last minute. Rihanna, according to her doctors advice due to bronchitis. The weekend was supposed to perform with Lauryn Hill!!! That may have made the Grammy's Epic! In totally, including the fact that I haven't watch the full show in probably 10 years, I'll give the Grammy Awards a clean 7 out of 10.
